Gaming Glitches: Why do you do this to us?

The size of the gaming industry means that publishers push developers hard to get games to market. The last thing a publisher wants to do is build hype around a release and then p**s off the masses by delaying its release.

No, instead they like to p**s off gamers by releasing games full of glitches.

Yes, this is a catch 22 situation for the publishers, because that fine line of angering a gamer is very evident, but why not be more realistic about what you want to take to market rather than give the masses a product which infuriates rather than entertains?

It may seem like we are being a bit harsh here, given that updates and patches post-release generally fix issues, but why should gamers be suckered into spending hard-earned cash on a game which actually doesn’t work as it should?

When you buy a toaster, you expect it to work first time and every time. If it doesn’t, you return it, you don’t wait for someone to come to your house to fix it. The same should be the case with games, but, sadly, it isn’t.

Gamers have become more accepting of development issues with games, mainly due to the updates and patches, but what of the guys who don’t have internet access to install those fixes? They are stuck with a game which angers to the point of wanting to throw your controller at the screen!

So what is the solution? Well, there isn’t one for the gamers. You buy the game, you are stuck with the game. There is very little you can do if a game is glitchy, other than sit in your chair and cry a little. Basically, gamers are the suckers and the publishers don’t care enough. For the devs and publishers, the solution is doing your job right the first time, but yeah…

So, the next time you pop your game into your console, spare a thought for those who are doing the exact same thing and are about to take a punch to the stomach. Fun, right?
